Joe Emerson, a nutritionist, founded Emerson Ecologics in 1980, along with his brother Bill, because he saw a need to make quality supplements more readily available to both healthcare professionals and their patients. The first brand he started distributing, out of his basement in Acton, Massachusetts, was Allergy Research Group. We’ve come a long way since then!
 
A family-run business, Emerson Ecologics soon moved to Pepperell, MA and then in 1999, a new facility in Bedford, New Hampshire was built; the building in which Emerson headquarters remained until October 2012. By 1999, Emerson carried 82 brands including: Allergy Research Group, Bio-Tech, Designs for Health, Douglas Laboratories, Ecological Formulas, Gaia Herbs, Nordic Naturals, Progressive Laboratories and Rx Vitamins.
 
A practicing nutritionist, Joe Emerson always held product quality as a top priority. In order to monitor all the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance issues of the dietary supplement industry and uphold the highest standards for customers, a Product Quality Committee was first formed in 2003. This became the basis for what has become the flagship of quality today, the Emerson Quality Program
SM (EQP).
 
Emerson Ecologics was purchased in early 2008 by Liberty Lane Partners, a private investment firm in Hampton, NH founded by the former leadership team of Fisher Scientific Corporation (which later became Thermo Fisher Scientific). Near the end of that same year, Emerson acquired Terrace International Distributors (TID Health) in Redlands, California. During the following year, the two businesses were fully integrated with the Redlands location becoming Emerson’s Western distribution and customer support center.
 
In 2011, Emerson moved its Eastern distribution center from Bedford, NH to a new facility in Colonial Heights, Virginia. In the process, we expanded our total distribution foot print by 50% to support our future growth. No longer a need for distribution space in Bedford, the office headquarters relocated a short distance to the heart of downtown Manchester, New Hampshire in October 2012. 
 
Today, with distribution centers in Virginia and California, we are proud to be the leading provider of the highest quality nutritional supplements to the integrative healthcare practitioner market.
